The Society for Human Resource Management is teaming up with a legal services network to offer legal resources to small businesses as they encounter employment laws and liability issues during the COVID-19 pandemic.
SHRM is working with LegalShield to offer the SHRM LegalNetwork to human resources professionals representing businesses with 100 or fewer employees. The society’s research found that about 70 percent of small businesses seeking outside advice since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, 86 percent wanted legal help.
“Access to legal protection shouldn’t be a luxury,” said SHRM President and CEO Johnny C. Taylor Jr. in a news release. “As businesses reopen, smaller organizations will face many unprecedented scenarios and circumstances — where legal guidance will be needed now more than ever. This service enables HR leaders to fully support their employers on the road to recovery with real-time solutions and dedicated legal protection to manage these important issues.”
Jeff Bell, CEO of LegalShield, said in a news release that the new plan would meet legal needs year-round and let businesses focus on reopening, stabilizing and growing.
